Richard W. VanFossen

April 27th, 1936 – February 7th, 2020

Richard Wayne VanFossen, age 83 of Ipava, IL, passed away at 9:50 am Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care in Roseville, IL. He was born on April 27, 1936 in Ipava, the son of Earl Lloyd and Leota Marie (Smith) VanFossen. He married Marilyn Sue Ramos on November 6, 1999 in Macomb, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Richbark and Karen (and Kevin) Danner, both of Table Grove, IL, step-son Tony (and Michelle) Klockenga of Metamora, IL, step-daughter Vicki (and Rick) Willis of Peoria Heights, IL, six grandchildren; Jennifer (and Ben) Boyer, Ryan Richbark, Wesley (and Nicole) Seward, Matthew Richbark, Kyle (and Miranda) Seward, and C.J. Richbark, four step-grandchildren; T.J. Klockenga, Jackie Klockenga, Tim (and Lissett) Willis, and Dustin Willis, ten great-grandchildren; Allison (and Avery) Jacobs, Brent Boyer, A.J. Ellerman, Avrey Boyer, Christella Boyer, Grace Ellerman, Maisson Boyer, Madison Richbark, Emrey Seward, and Aiden Seward, and one step-great-grandson Eliah Lissett.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald VanFossen.

He was an over the road truck driver for many years. He also was an auctioneer, holding auctions with his friend Dean Roddis.

Dick enjoyed playing cards, visiting the gambling boats, going to auctions and working on tractors. He loved his dogs dearly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at 7 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given in Dick's memory to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.

When Dick would come to the Anticoagulation Clinic at MDH he would always joke around. He was fun to visit with and always respected others. He enjoyed talking about his dogs and the auctions. I was always blessed to have known Dick.

I always remember Dick as a family friend. One who our mom could count on to put dad in his place. Going Saturday night to the auction house uptown Ipava listening to Dick and Ernie auction as I continue auctions myself I now see auctioneers a singers. Loved Dick and his girls

So sorry for your loss. Dick and I used to fishing. He and Mom were at the bar with me the first time we had a bat in there. They were both freaking out when I caught it with the broom and a bucket and took it out back. He loved to tease people.
