Stanley B. Heaton

December 7th, 1928 – May 7th, 2020

Stanley Bert ‘Bill’ Heaton, 91, formerly of Industry Illinois passed away on Thursday May 7, 2020 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Il.

He was born on December 7, 1928 in Oakland Township to Roy Roscoe Heaton and Nellie May Morrell.

He is survived by his brother James ‘Jim’ Heaton, son Brent Heaton (and wife Christy Bozard), granddaughters Erika Eppinger (and husband Nick) and Dayna Heaton, great granddaughters Kaelyn Eppinger, Eliana Eppinger, Hailey Eppinger and Reese Eppinger.

He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Roscoe Heaton and Nellie May Morrell and his siblings Marjorie ‘Marge’ Wherley, Nedra Andrews, Melba Rhodes, Franklin ‘Bud’ Heaton, Louise ‘Poodge’ Parr and Wanda Brown.

He attended school in Oakland Township and later served in the United States Army as a Medic where he earned a purple heart and bronze star. On returning from the military, he started his lifelong career in farming. He farmed in Vermont, Hamilton, Prairie City and Roseville before settling in Industry for 40 years, 20 of which were spent working side by side with his son, Brent.

He will be remembered for his love for family, farming and enjoyment of his friends.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Phillips Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Illinois Veterans Home.
