LaVerne J. Danner

April 15th, 1937 – November 1st, 2012

Graveside services for LaVerne J. Danner will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria, IL.

LaVerne was born in Table Grove on April 15, 1937 and passed away in Peoria, IL on November 1, 2012. In his later years, LaVerne developed a strong interest in genealogy and research of his family line and this helped him discover his roots as a 7th generation direct descendant of Michael and Anna (Bend) Danner who came to the New World aboard the James Goodwill vessel, arriving in Philadelphia on September 27, 1727.

LaVerne was born to Earnest and Letha (Lauffrey) Danner, son of Edward and Barbara (Weber) Danner, son of Jacob and Amanda (Kopp) Danner, son of Henry and Catherine (Senft) Danner, son of David and Magdalena (Stambaugh) Danner, son of Heinrich and Elizabeth (Kehr) Danner, son of Michael and Anna (Bend) Danner.

In his early years, LaVerne helped on the family farm and worked as a farmer for many years while also working as a welder at Caterpillar. He retired from Caterpillar in 2000. LaVerne was visiting his brother in Peoria one day and met Mary L. Simmons and the two were married on May 23, 1958. They were married for 47 years until Mary's death on January 30, 2006.

LaVerne leaves behind two daughters, Charli (Jake) Schisler of Alva, FL and Tracey L. Danner of Peoria, one son Anthony of Peoria, one step-son David (Susan) Fulton of Muscatine, IA, 4 grandsons, and one sister Ollidean of Napa Valley, CA.

LaVerne was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers, Raymond, Lester, and Delbert.
