Richard "Dick" Powell

November 26th, 1928 – September 4th, 2015

Dick Powell, age 86 of Astoria, passed away at 5:53 pm Friday, September 4, 2015 at his home. He was born on November 26, 1928, the son of Irma Jane Powell. On December 17, 1950, Dick married Norma Anderson in Beardstown, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (and Ike) Hackett of Lewistown, IL and Janey (and Mike) Ford of Rushville, IL, one son Carl (and Debbie) Powell of Lewistown, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Dick was preceded in death by one daughter Josie Haubensak, 2 great-grandchildren, and his sister Betty Parker.

Dick was in the Merchant Marines. He worked as a contractor and built many homes in Astoria. He also worked for the Town of Astoria and was a licensed plumber.

He was a member of the Astoria Fire Department.

Most of all, Dick enjoyed spending time with his family.

Cremation tires have been accorded. There will be no services. Memorials in Dick's memory may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad and sent to the funeral home at Box 525, Astoria, IL 61501

Dick and Norma and all your family were good family friends. Saw Dick recently at the post office and had a good visit.Didn't know he was sick so we were shocked and very saddened by his passing. we look forward to seeing him again in Heaven someday!_Steve and Laura Thomas
