Lewis H. Baker

March 8th, 1938 – October 23rd, 2015

Lewis "Lewie" Baker, age 77, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 5:25 pm on October 23, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on March 8, 1938 in Browning, IL, the son of Wilson and Mary (Skiles) Baker. Lewie married Doris Bucher on September 10, 1957 in Bader, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is his son, Jeff Baker of Browning, 3 daughters, Darla Rose of Astoria, Stacey (and Bill) Lechlitner of Warsaw, IN and Marcia Weiss of Astoria, 12 grandchildren, Sarah (and Jon) Meilike, Abe (and Alisha) Belville, Erica Belville, Isabelle (and Matt) Slaughter, Olivia Belville, Jordy Belville, Zac Rose, Jonah Lechlitner, Samuel Lechlitner, Nathaniel Lechlitner, Ashley Weiss and Eli Weiss. 4 great-grandchildren, Daisy, Elle and Lilly Belville and Max Payne, sister, Mary Ann Baker of Astoria and his brother, Robert (and Melba) Baker of Astoria.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harvey Baker.

Lewie was a hired Hand, farmer and worked for L and N Industries for nearly 20 years. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren and the Fulton County Farm Bureau. He was also a avid Facebook user, liked his cars and tractors and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the Woodland Church of the Brethren. Pastor Gary Yoder will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria, with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials can be made to the Woodland Church of the Brethren.
