Eldon J. Baker

February 10th, 1933 – November 1st, 2015

Eldon J. Baker, age 82, of Ipava, passed away at 7:42 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born on February 10, 1933 in Buckheart Township, Fulton Co., IL, the son of Damon and Opal (Brown) Baker. Eldon married Barbara Klinedinst on June 7, 1953 in Lewistown. She survives.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana (and Craig) Horwedel of Tulsa, OK, 3 Grandsons, Sean (and Amber Fiddler) Horwedel, Shane Horwedel, and Shael (and Jaclyn) Horwedel, 3 Great-Grandchildren-Layla, Gunner, and Skyler Horwedel and his sister, Connie (and Gene) Lockard of Ipava.

Eldon farmed for over 50 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church of Astoria, Past President of the Fulton County Fair Board, Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation Board, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Pleasant Township Board for several years, and the Pritchard Clark School Board. He was a former member and past president of the Astoria Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, gardening and making crosses for his friends.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Cody Stinnett will be officiating. A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites provided by the Ipava American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Ipava American Legion, the Ipava Fire Department, or the food bank of the donor's choice.
