Roy G. Groff
January 27th, 1951 – January 22nd, 2016
Roy 'Geno' Groff, 64, of Vermont, IL, passed away at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 22, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 27, 1951 in Ipava, IL, the son of Melvin and Iva Irene (Walton) Groff.
Geno is survived by his daughter, Jessica (and Robbie) Kirkpatrick of Bushnell, IL, 3 Grandchildren, Farrah Kirkpatrick, Nicholas Raines and Morgan Groff, 2 sisters, Connie Groff of Vermont and Kathy Groff of Vermont, half-bother, Jimmy Cox of Enterprise, AL and Johnny of Galesburg, IL.
Geno worked at the Vermont Foundry for over 20 years. He loved to roller skate and was a floor guard at skating rinks in Havana and Rushville. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Cody Stinnett will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be held in the Vermont Cemetery in Vermont. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.

So sorry to hear of your family's loss. Geno was a friend of my older siblings and always at the skating rink in Rushville during my youth. May you find comfort in your memories and may Geno Rest in Peace and watch over those he loves as your Guardian ANGEL!!!!

I just heard the saddening news tonight. Geno was a VERY special friend to me! To Connie & Kathy it'll be odd seeing you girls without your brother. I miss miss him a lot & he will always hold a special place in my heart!! Prayers to all the family!! Like so many others, I skated with him at Rushville Roller Rink! He was s phenomenal skater! I always enjoyed watching him & Chuck Crook.
