Robert Cooper
August 6th, 1927 – February 27th, 2016
Robert William Cooper, age 88 of Astoria, IL, passed away at 8:25 pm Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana, IL. He was born on August 6, 1927 in Peoria, IL, the son of David and Helen (Merrill) Cooper. In March of 1951, Robert married JoAnn Ray in Sciota, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Roberta Tomlinson of Cuba, IL, nephew David (and Lorrie) Langille of Worcester, Massachusetts, and his niece Emily Langille of Dallas, TX.
Robert was preceded in death by his son-in-law David Tomlinson and his sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Vernon Langille.
Robert owned and operated Cooper Motor Company in Astoria, IL and also worked for AMAX Coal Company.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery at a later date.
