Clyde G. Wys

June 20th, 1934 – February 29th, 2016

Clyde G. Wys, 81, of Ipava, passed away at 9:09 am on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on June 20, 1934 in Lewistown, the son of Elmer and Jeanette (Guiher) Wys. Clyde married Laura Ann Taber on February 5, 1956 in Ipava, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Bonnie (and Judson) Waters of Bloomington, IN, 2 sons, Ed (and Sherry) Wys of Mooresville, IN and Ronald Wys of Ipava, 8 grandchildren, Kamille (and Josh) Jacobs, Karissa (and John) Hartwyk, Kelsie (and Story) Simpson, Kyle (and Liz) Wys, Lauren Waters, Katie (and Jeff) Jensen, Ashley Waters and Jackson Waters, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Barbara Simpson of Lewistown and Clara Kay (and Charles) Nott of Lewistown and his brother, Fritz (and Jan) Wys of Lewistown.

Clyde farmed his entire life and worked at International Harvester and Navistar, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge #720 in Indianapolis, IN, Murat Shriners of Indianapolis, IN, the Ipava Christian Church and UAW. Clyde also loved to work on old cars.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the funeral home in Astoria with masonic services at 7 pm. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church or the Ipava Fire Department.

Very sorry to hear of Clyde's passing. He was a stalwart member of the great class of 1952! He and Ann drove to Minneapolis,MN for the funeral of my kid brother, Terry, who was best man at their wedding. That is real friendship. I will never forget that. Also looked forward to our class reunions. My wife and I went to the garage where his restored Jeepster was housed, at the urgeing of Albert Vaughn. Outstanding. Stan Matheny
