Linda S. Allen

June 19th, 1950 – July 26th, 2016

Linda S. Allen, 66, of Rushville, passed away at 12:33 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Wesley Village in Macomb. She was born on June 19, 1950 in Canton, the daughter of Vernon and Helen (Conner) Derry. Linda married Len Allen on March 23, 1984 in Rushville, IL. He survives.

Also surviving is her son, Jeff Crabtree of Galesburg, step-son, Kent (and Debbie) Allen of Jacksonville, step-daughter, Kelley (and Roger) Dunning of Petersburg, IN, brother, Larry (and Marge) Derry of Astoria and her sister, Loretta (and Bob) Mummert of Astoria.

Linda worked in rehabilitation services at Astoria Gardens during high school. She then worked for Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville and last worked for Evergreen Place in Beardstown for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Astoria Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and loved her backyard, where she enjoyed watching squirrels and her dog Bono.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in the Summum Cemetery in Summum. Pastor Matthew Thiner will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I worked with linda at heritage manor on grand avenue in beardstown. She was the best rehab aide! Residents loved her and were comforted by her. Because of her patience and encouragment she was able to get residents to do more than they realized they could do. She helped out on the floor when needed without complaint. All staff had a great respect for her. It was an honor to get to work with Linda. She was one of the best I have ever worked with. I am sorry for your loss. Esther Boehm
