John S. Danner

October 29th, 1925 – July 8th, 2014

John S. Danner, age 88, of Macomb, IL, formerly of Ipava, IL, passed away at 1:21 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Wesley Village in MaComb, IL. John was born on October 29, 1925 in Ipava, IL, the son of Lyle and Gayle (Fisher) Danner. He married Edna Marjorie Baum on August 30, 1947 in Ipava, IL. Edna Marjorie preceded John in death on March 2, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters,Teresa Goodell of Ipava, IL and Tana (and Hurley) Crossman of Vermont, IL, three Grandchildren, Andy (and Freida) Goodell, Brett Crossman and Amy Lucas, four Great-Grandchildren, Tad Crossman, Ericca Crossman, Jessica Goodell and Tyler Lucas and four Great-Great-Grandchildren, Kyle Crossman, Abbie Schiedel, Kylie Crossman and Trevor Schiedel.
John was preceded in death by wife Edna Marjorie Danner, son-in-law George Goodell, grandson Doug Goodell and three sisters, Barbara Bradbury, Sarah Danner and Bernadine Danner.
John worked at Illinois Power in Havana, IL as a supervisor. He was a member of the Ipava Christian Church, where he served as Deacon, Ipava Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief, Ipava Zoning Board, where he served as Chairman, Ipava Sesquicentennial Committee and the Ipava Cemetery Board, where he served as Chairman. John also enjoyed carpenter work and working with wood.
Services will held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava, IL with Freida Foland officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church or the Ipava Fire Department. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava, IL.
