Wandalee R. Shields

August 16th, 1921 – March 25th, 2017

Wandalee R. Shields, 95, of Vermont, IL, passed away at 11:01 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital ER in Rushville, IL. She was born on August 16, 1921 in the Vermont Township, Fulton County, IL, the daughter of Marvin and Delma (Haney) Strode. Wandalee married Ralph Willard Shields on March 29, 1947 in Astoria, IL. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2007.

She is also preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Ilene Purdy and Wilma Worsdell, and 3 brothers, Eldon Strode, Dayton Strode and Donald Strode.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn (and Ed) Bubb of Quincy, IL, grandson, Jeremy Bubb of Vermont, granddaughter, Carrie Bubb of Fulton, MO, 2 brothers, Max (and Shirley) Strode of Bradford, IL and Bernard (and Janis) Strode of Mexico, MO and her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Strode of Dunlap, IL.

Wandalee was a bookkeeper at Shields Electric and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary, Vermont United Methodist Church and Jolly Neighbors. Wandalee enjoyed gardening, playing cards and loved her grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Reverend Robert Green will be officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vermont Fire and Rescue Squad.
