Ronald V. Shields

January 21st, 1938 – April 5th, 2017

Ronald V. Shields, 79 of Pekin, IL, passed away at 1:06 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on January 21, 1938 in Macomb, IL, the son of Verne and Edith (Erb) Shields. Ron married Judy Danner on September 8, 1962 in Ipava, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Shields of Pekin and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ron retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville, IL.

He was US Air Force veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960, Airman 2nd Class.

Ron was a 1956 graduate of Astoria High School where he excelled in track. Ronnie was a car guy who enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Zach Buscher will be officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery in Summum, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Astoria Public Library or WTVP in Peoria.
