Doris J. Baker

June 4th, 1939 – July 28th, 2017

Doris J. Baker, 78, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 6:04 am on July 28, 2017 at Prairie View Care Center in Lewistown, IL. She was born on June 4, 1939 in Astoria, the daughter of Allen and Nelda (Kessler) Bucher. Doris married Lewis Baker on September 10, 1957 in Bader, IL. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2015.

Also preceding her in death is her sister, Virginia Maxine Cox, brother, Arthur Bucher and 4 infant siblings.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Baker of Browning, 3 daughters, Darla Rose of Astoria, Stacey (and Bill) Lechlitner of Warsaw, IN and Marcia Weiss of Astoria, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Irene Shaw of Rushville, IL, Nedra Bollinger of Browning, and Bernice Wright of Macomb, IL and her brother, Dayle (and Patricia) Bucher of Bedford, IA.

Doris was a homemaker and childcare giver.

She was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren. Doris liked to work in the garden and be outside. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 4, 2017, at the Woodland Church of the Brethren in Astoria. Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to Prairie View Care Center in Lewistown.
