Ethel M. Davis
November 15th, 1926 – December 6th, 2017
Ethel M. Davis, 91, of Rushville, IL, passed away at 10:25 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Rushville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Rushville. She was born on November 15, 1926 in Canton, IL the daughter of Barney and Lottie (Travis) Bowman. She married Denzil Davis on February 8, 1946 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1991.
Also preceding her in death is her daughter, Alice Marie Davis, three brothers, Robert Findley Bowman, Barney Leroy Bowman and Floyd Adolph Thomas, and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Duane (and Sharon) Davis of Frederick, IL, 2 daughters, Elaine (and Franz) Grimmer of Astoria, IL and Joyce (and Steven) Angel of Rushville, 5 Grandchildren, Sherri Perry, Jerome Grimmer, Steven Davis, Jason Davis and Shannon Stambaugh, 9 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Ethel was a farmwife and caregiver in Rushville for many years.
Ethel was baptized at the Browning Church of Christ. She later attended the Astoria Church of Christ.
Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. John Ruppel will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the funeral home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to Smile Train.
