Patsy S. Springs

September 25th, 1940 – August 10th, 2018

Patsy Sue Springs, age 77 of Macomb, IL, formerly of Vermont, IL, passed away at 12:55 pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Wesley Village in Macomb. She was born on September 25, 1940 in Astoria Township, Fulton County, IL, the daughter of Orval and Imogene (Springs) Umphryes. Patsy married Howard D. Springs on August 21, 1958 in Rushville, IL. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Orval, Jr., George, and Neil Umphryes.

Patsy is survived by her son Peter Springs of Macomb, six sisters; Lona (and Bill) Wagner of Belville, IL, Rosie (and Gary) Wece of Murphysboro, IL, Susan Jackson of Pontiac, IL, Nancy Hayes of Vermont, IL, Betsy Umphryes of Centralia, IL, and Donna Raudabaugh of Vermont, IL, and three brothers; Richard Umphryes, Jon Paul Umphryes, and Henry Umphryes, all of Vermont, IL.

Patsy worked 15 years in Havana, IL, first for Atwood Manufacturing, then DANA Corp, until their closing in 1979.

She was a member of the Vermont Christian Church, the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 Auxiliary of Vermont, IL, and the Rebekah Lodge #385 of Bushnell, IL

Patsy was a 9 year Vermont Village Board member and served as a committee woman for several years. She was a committee member of the Bethany Special Needs program in Macomb.

She was the point woman on the "Love Packages" collections that came from the Vermont area. Patsy worked with the Vermont Cemetery Board to repair broken or damaged military markers and also helped make sure the deceased veterans graves were marked with military markers.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 16th at 11:00 am at the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Astoria. There is no visitation. Pastor Cody Stinnett will officiate and memorials may be given to the Vermont American Lregion Auxiliary.
