Michael L. Pigg

January 19th, 1962 – November 28th, 2018

Michael L. Pigg, 56, of Summum, IL, passed away at 1:50 am on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1962 in Canton, IL, the son of Lloyd and Sandra (Ford) Pigg. Mike married, Ruth Kikey on July 28, 2012 in Mexico. She survives.

Also surviving is his son, Bruno Pigg of Summum, brother, Mark (and Alison) Pigg of Statesville, NC and niece, Taylor Pigg of Statesville, NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Mike was a meat cutter and owner and operator of Astoria Meat Market.

He enjoyed traveling and going to new places. Mike loved life, his family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Summum Christian Church in Summum. Pastor Darrin Fish will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Harbor Lights Hospice, or the Fulton County Humane Society.

Mike was a very good man, he helped me when I was young and had no life experiences, he hired me and I learned so many things, he knew I was a troubled young man, he was a little harder on me then others, but I needed it, I pursued a career in the meat business for awhile and became a meat manager in the big city, if it wasn't for my old boss, my old friend, I wouldn't be the man I am today, thank you Mike for everything you did for me, I was unfortunately unable to attend today with 2 sick babies, I know he would understand. You will be missed dearly by me and many, you will always be in my thoughts, thank you for everything, Mark family and friends, I'm sorry for your loss, he will be missed.

I met Mike in 2007 at the butcher shop. Over the years, I brought him dozens of deer. He was always fun to talk to. One time I accidentally locked my keys in my truck while dropping a deer off. I clogged up the entire process! Mike took it in stride and called a buddy to come over and get my truck unlocked. I'll miss him. My condolences to his entire family. Brian Stephans, Batavia, IL
