Mary Jane Hummell

October 29th, 1939 – March 25th, 2019

Mary Jane Hummell, 79, of Bushnell, IL, passed away at 7:05 am on Monday, March 25, 2019 at The Elms in Macomb, IL. She was born on October 29, 1939 in Ipava, IL, the daughter of Jasper Beryl and Hila Mae (Vaughn) Robertson. Mary married Ronald Hummell on October 24, 1964 in Ipava. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1992.

Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Hazel Lynn Tucker, son-in-law, Ricky Bolen, 3 brothers, Clark Robertson, Philip Robertson and Robert Robertson, and 3 sisters, Iris Lamm, Hazel Danner and Barbara Wickert.

Survivors include her daughter, Anna Bolen of Prairie City, IL son, John Hummell of Bushnell, 4 grandchildren, Joe Childs, Brady Childs, Jackie (and Drake) Cottingham and Kindra Tucker, 6 great-grandchildren, Blaze Childs, Paxton Cottingham, Marley Smith, Kaylee Childs, Rowin Cottingham and Audrey Smith.

Mary worked at the Vermont Foundry, Fayhee Implement in Prairie City as a secretary, Websters Manufacturing in Macomb for over 20 years and lastly at the Bushnell Laundromat for over 15 years.

She loved playing Bingo, reading Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele books, and visiting gambling boats and casinos.

Mary loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

She was a die hard Cubs fan.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Randy Whitmire will be officiating. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava. Memorials may be made to the Mary Jane Hummell Memorial Fund.
