Janet R. Summers

December 12th, 1944 – July 22nd, 2019

Janet Rebecca Summers, 74, of Astoria, passed away on July 22nd at St. John’s Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Janet was born in Macon, Georgia on December 12th, 1944, while her father was stationed there for World War II. After the war, they moved back to Bluff City, Illinois. After high school, Janet lived in Texas, Colorado and Minnesota. She was a talented homemaker and seamstress.

Janet moved back to Illinois where she worked at Jeanne’s Country Kitchen. She enjoyed going to Sturgis, coffee with friends, and gambling. Janet was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother.

Janet is survived by two children, Vince Summers and Becky Rossman, 8 grandchildren, Sean, Linzy, Emma, Kerrick, Mason, Skyler, Cayden and Tyler, two great grandchildren, and two brothers, Keith (Denise) Curless and Ted (Jane Anne) Curless. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle White, her parents Donald and Beatrice Curless, and her sister Carol Hinesley.

A graveside service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Bluff City Cemetery in Bluff City, IL. A visitation will take place from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday at Prevailing Faith International Church of Bluff City. Memorials may be made to Neighborhood House in Peoria, IL.
