Raymond "Bud" J. Peters

October 4th, 1937 – October 13th, 2019

Raymond “Bud” J. Peters, 82, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 10:30 am on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1937 in Canton, IL, the son of Raymond and Grace (Clear) Peters. Bud married Jean Ford on September 18, 1973 in Lewistown, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his 2 daughters, Becky (and Tim) Conn of Soldier, KY and Julie (and Rick) Harper of Calhoun, CO, 5 sons, Randy (and Darnell) Peters of Lewistown, Tim Peters, Jacob (and Bobbi) Peters of Fort Madison, IA, Curtis (and Heather) Peters of Galesburg, IL and Travis (and Jeri) Peters of Astoria, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded by his granddaughter, Sydney Avery, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Bud worked at International Harvester, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he worked as a farmhand for several farmers and grain elevators.

Bud enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading western novels.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Gary Sheets will be officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jean Ann and family I'm so sorry for the passing of Bud. He was the best brother in law a person could ask for he will be dearly missed. He taught me a lot of quips that I never knew. Love you and you will all be in my prayers and thoughts.

I was blessed to be able to see Uncle Bud in August. I wish my kids could have known him like I did. I loved him.everyone had a nickname, I was mouse then (oh lordy) little Dolly. Sorry to jear of Bud's passing. I will forever remember him teasing me about having to gaurd Courtney Acres 8n eighth grade basketball. He was a good friend and always talked to me whenever I saw him. His sense of humor and love of lice and family will surwly be missed. Sorry I will not be able to attend the funetal but know my thoughts andvprayets are with you and your families. May God bless and keep you during thos time of loss and mourning.
