Bernard W. Heath

November 23rd, 1931 – November 11th, 2019

Bernard W. Heath, 87, of Adair, IL, passed way at 12:51 pm on Monday, November 11, 2019 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on Monday, November 23, 1931 in Astoria, IL, the son of Samuel and Naomi (Brehm) Heath. Bernard married Joanne Etter on June 29, 1957 in Astoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Jennifer (and Amy) Heath of Bloomington, IL, son, Bradley (and Tara) Heath of Macomb, IL, granddaughter, Taylor (and Steven) Huffman of Table Grove, IL, 2 brothers, Eldon Heath of Canton, IL and Bill (and Alice) Heath of Havana, IL and his sister, Shirley (and Carl) Tyler of Napa, CA.

He is preceded by his parents, 2 brothers, Robert and Franklin Heath, and sister, Betty Ralston.

Bernard worked for AMAX coal company at the Sunspot Mine in Vermont, IL until 1984 upon its closing. He would go on to retire from the Wabash Mine in Mt. Carmel in 1994.

He served in the US Air Force as an air craft mechanic from 1951 to 1955.

Bernard was a member of the Vermont Masonic Lodge and the Macomb American Legion. He was also a long time member of the New Salem Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid rabbit hunter. He also raised beagles and loved his beagles.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the New Salem Fire Department in Adair or the Macomb Police K9 Unit.
