Bernice A. Wright

June 20th, 1941 – December 4th, 2019

Bernice A. Wright, 78, of Rushville, formerly of Astoria, IL, passed away at 5:26 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She was born on June 20, 1941 in Woodland Twp, Fulton County, IL, the daughter of Allen Cyrus and Nelda Aletha (Kessler) Bucher.

Survivors include her daughter, Susie Williams of Pottstown, PA, daughter-in-law, Angela Wright of Vermont, IL, 6 grandchildren, Kodee (and Jason) Wood, Dakota (and Peter) McGoldrick, Laramee (and Cory Smith) Wright, Logan Wright, Lucas (and Ali Weaver) Williams, and Adam Williams, 1 great-grandchild on the way, 2 sisters, Irene Shaw of Rushville, and Nedra Bollinger of Browning, IL and her brother, Dayle (and Patricia) Bucher of Bedford, IA.

She is preceded in death by her son, Billie Wright, 3 brothers, Art, Beverly, and Maynard Bucher, and 4 sisters, Ramona Mae Bucher, Virginia Maxine Cox, Leta Bella Bucher, and Doris Baker.

Bernice worked at Mayall Grocery in Ipava, Astoria Gardens and Kessler’s Meat Locker in Astoria.

She was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed word search puzzles, BINGO, and was an avid reader.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Kevin Kessler will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bernice Wright Memorial Fund.

Sincere condolences and prayers for comfort to all of Bernice's family and also to Nedra. Bernice and I were in Heartland together five yrs ago when I was in rehab for hip replacement surgery, and we visited back & forth. She was always so pleasant. So sorry for your loss. Cheryl (Cox) Matteson
