Shirley M. Nelson

March 4th, 1942 – December 22nd, 2019

Shirley M. Nelson, 77, of Table Grove, IL, passed away at 3:02 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria, IL. She was born on March 4, 1942 in Peoria, the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Leonard) Immel. She married Robert N. Nelson on May 17, 1974 in Yorkville, IL. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2010.

Also preceding her is her sister, Toby Curley.

Survivors include her 4 sons, Jeff (and Susan) Nelson of Beason, IL, Gregory (and Debby) Nelson of Montgomery, IL, Scott (and Karen) Engel of Table Grove, and Tim (and Missy) Engel of Ipava, IL, 2 daughters, Cindy (and Michael) Yazvec of Table Grove, and Suzanne (and Rex) Fouts of Ipava, 14 grandchildren, Amy (and Jared) Smith, Alex Nelson, Melissa (Collin Warsham) Stees, Bylthe (and Robert) Pogliano, Brenden Nelson, Josh (and Melissa) Chaplin, Branden (and Devan) Engel, Christopher Yazvec, Curtis Yazvec, Heather (and Brian) Colston, Bradley (and Sam) Fouts, Amber (and Chris) Moreland, Elizabeth Engel, and Tyler Engel, 13 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Kathy (and Leonard) Wass of Oswego, IL.

Shirley was a homemaker. She also worked at The Honey Cone Shop in Table grove, BRK in Aurora, IL, and McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL.

She was a member of the Table Grove Community Church and the Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, such as sewing and wood crafts, crossword puzzle books, board games and playing Yahtzee.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Table Grove Community Church in Table Grove. Pastor Tim Lindsay will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove following the service at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Community Church or the Table Grove Fire & Rescue Squad.
