D.J. Thome

March 5th, 1978 – February 6th, 2020

D.J. Thome, 41, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 9:38 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on March 5, 1978 in Canton, IL, the son of David and Jo (Cook) Thome. D.J. married Tracy Egleton on July 29, 2006 in Astoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his 3 sons, Brycen Dean, Payton Thome, Talen Thome all of Ipava, mother, Jo Thome of Ipava, IL, father, David (and Donna) Thome of Bluffton, SC, 2 sisters, Melissa Lannery and Bobbi Watkins of Ipava, half-brother, Todd Thome of Pekin, IL,
half-sister, Tracy Phillips of Grove City, OH and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his grandparents, Bev and Don Fawcett, Nolan Daily and Mildred Daily

D.J. was an auto salesman for Davis Buck GMC Canton, Hossler Auto Plaza, O’Brian Auto Group and Gentry’s in Macomb, IL. He was always a member of Laborer’s Union #231 in Pekin. He last worked for Verizon in Havana, IL.

D.J. was a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Ipava Fire and Rescue Squad. He loved coaching his kid’s biddy ball, football and baseball teams. He also enjoyed hunting, going to concerts and going to Florida.

Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Doug Krukewitt of officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his son’s education fund or the Ipava Fire and Rescue Squad.
