Marvin D. White

October 27th, 1936 – April 13th, 2020

Marvin Delano White was born on October 27, 1936 in Fulton County District 6541, 2 miles east of the Temple Cemetery. He was the son of Sterling Cornelius and Ruth May (Hendee) White.

Marvin was born on the Heimgardner place and upon his father's death on July 3, 1940, moved 3 miles west to another farm and lived their approximately 3 years. The family then moved to Table Grove and lived in Uncle Iras' house, until Marvin was 9 years old. His mother married Woodrow Hensley and they moved to the south end of Table Grove.

Marvin started grade school in a big 2 story house in Table Grove. He later lived in this house until his death. He went to the first 4 grades there then was bussed to Ipava for 4 more years. He returned to Table Grove for High School, graduating in May 1956.

On June 28, 1956 Marvin joined the United States Air Force and served for 4 years. He took the train from Chicago to San Francisco, taking 5 days. He did his basic training for 3 months and then went to Biloxi, Mississippi for 3 months and on to Whiteman Air Base in Knob Noster, Missouri for 3 and 1/2 years.

Marvin married Marjorie Ann McCamant on August 13, 1958 in Jefferson City, MO. On March 20, 1959, Tena Janell was born on base and on April 17, 1962 Marlin Fitzgerald was born in Rushville. Marion Andrew was born in Macomb on April 29, 1963. On February 18, 1971 he divorced Marjorie.

He married Mary Jean Henderson on April 17, 1971 in E. Peoria. Dale and Judy Malott stood up with them. On July 4, 1971, Mark Dale was born in Macomb.

Marvin began working at Caterpillar in East Peoria on October 3, 1963. Mary passed away on October 14, 1988 due to a heart attack. On May 20, 1989, Marvin married Sharon McCamant until they divorced in November 26, 1990. He then married Dorothy Joann Sams on November 29, 1992 and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2016.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Rachel (Immel) Hendee and Andrew and Nellie White, and his sister Nelda Stepities.

Marvin is survived by his 3 sons, Marlin (and Jennifer) White of Browning, Marion (and Shattea) White and Mark (and Jamie) White, both of Table Grove, his daughter Tena (and Lewis) Lashbrook of Table Grove, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, his brother Sterling White of Douglas, WY and his sister Dorothy McIntyre of Boulder, CO.

He worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, then drove a bus for VIT Schools for 10 more years. He was a member of the UAW and the Ipava American Legion, He played basketball and softball in his younger years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an election judge for Farmers Township in Fulton County.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad and sent to the funeral home at PO Box 525, Astoria, IL 61501.
