Kathy A. Heitz Coats

February 15th, 1960 – June 16th, 2020

Kathy Ann Heitz Coats, Age 60, of Bushnell, Illinois was called home to her Lord and Savior at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020. She was born February 15,1960 in Macomb, Illinois the daughter to Cecil and Nancy Little Heitz. Kathy married Robert L Coats in Macomb on August 15, 1986. He survives.

Also surviving to mourn her loss are her daughter Kylie Coats and granddaughter Savannah Dowell, both of Macomb, whom she loved dearly. Other survivors include her mother, two sisters, Rebecca (Monte) Crossman of Astoria, Susie (Scotty) Parr of Vermont, one brother Chris (Kelly) Heitz of Vermont, mother-in-law Sue Kindred of Beardstown, father-in-law Robert E Coats of Houston, TX, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, her maternal grandparents Roman and Lulu Little and her paternal grandparents Roy and Vernie Heitz.

Kathy was a 1978 graduate of VIT High School. In 1979, she earned a Certificate of Accountancy from Robert Morris College. She went on to work at Western Illinois University for 35 years. During her employment she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree, graduating from WIU in 2002. She retired in December 2018 from her position as the Central Stores Manager in the Physical Plant. She also served as the Financial Secretary for Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member.

Kathy was a vivacious, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, friend and coworker. She loved spending time with all of her family at the farm she grew up on. Her favorite hobby was anything that involved her granddaughter; from attending choir concerts and awards ceremonies to throwing batting practice before ball games, she was there for it all. She also loved shopping trips with her lifelong friends The Sunshine Girls and enjoyed traveling to watch live music shows with her husband.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 at Vermont Cemetery with Re. Mike Burdick officiating.

Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
