William R. Jones

April 19th, 1956 – June 29th, 2020

William Robert "Bill" Jones, age 64 of Astoria, Illinois, passed away at 5:44 pm Monday, June 29, 2020 in the Graham Hospital in Canton, Illinois. He was born on April 19, 1956 in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Robert Eugene and Rita Marcile (Ralston) Jones. Bill married DeAnna Brown on July 18, 1981 in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Wesley (and Abbie Fawcett) Jones of Ipava, Illinois and Casey Jones of Lewistown, Illinois, four grandchildren; Aubryauna Jones, Chelsy Jones, Arissa Anderson, and Jaron Nielson, his mother, Rita Jones of Astoria, three sisters; Kathy (and Bill) Pollitt and Donna (and Steve) Hamblin, of Astoria, and Rhonda (and Chuck) Sosey of Lewistown, Illinois, and two brothers, Danny Jones and Larry Jones, of Astoria.

Bill was preceded in death by one daughter, Chelsey Jones, his father Bob Jones, and his in-laws, Junior and Mary Lou Brown.

Bill worked as a farmer. He then drove a truck for Astoria Ready-Mix and later Beaird Transport, where he was working until his death. He owned and operated Jones Backhoe and Loader Service.

He enjoyed hunting in his younger days. He loved to cook, especially beef and noodles, cut wood, and helping others. He adored his animals, especially his dog, "Bear".

He was a member of the Astoria Christian Church.

Graveside services for cremated remains will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Astoria Cemetery. Pastor Greg Parker will officiate. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad
