Frieda J. Stambaugh

December 15th, 1937 – September 5th, 2020

Frieda June Stambaugh, age 82 of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Astoria, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 am on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at The Elms in Macomb. She was born on December 15, 1937 in Rushville, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Leona (Vaughn) Bollinger. She married Donald E. "Donnie" Stambaugh on January 10, 1956 in Rushville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1988.

Frieda was also preceded in death by an infant grandchild, great-granddaughter Lila Stambaugh, son-in-law Mark Prather, sisters, Mary Lou Bird, Charlotte Norton, and Marilyn Bollinger, and brothers Robert, Richard, and Gene Bollinger.

She is survived by 4 daughters; Vickie Stambaugh of Bushnell, Illinois, Patty Prather of Rushville, Debbie (and Terry) Lucas of Rushville, and Susan (and Jason) Davis of Macomb, 4 sons; Rick (and Sue) Stambaugh of Ipava, Illinois, Ronnie Stambaugh of Rushville, Randy (and Brenda) Stambaugh of Astoria, and Reggie Stambaugh of Rushville, 21 grandchildren; Denise (and Anthony) Raines, Jennifer (and Mike Whitmore) Stambaugh, Tabitha Stambaugh, Ryan Stambaugh, Abigail Stambaugh, Randall "Scotty" Stambaugh, Donna (and David Campbell) Stambaugh, Joseph Prather, Alyssa Streveler, Jesse Lucas, Braydon Davis, Haley Davis, Michael (and Christina) Hardy, Brian (and April) Hardy, Aaron Stambaugh, Kyle Stambaugh, Joshua Stambaugh, Jeremy Stambaugh, Sean Stambaugh, Josh (and Kelsie Hadsall) Bentz, and Isaac Puckett, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Betty Norton of Beardstown, Illinois.

Frieda devoted her life to God and raising her kids. She enjoyed cooking and spending time outside visiting with family and friends.

She attended the Astoria Church of the Nazarene when she was younger, then became a member and attended faithfully the Astoria Assembly of God Church for years. Frieda loved to play the piano for worship at the Assembly of God. She later moved to Rushville and attended faithfully and became a member of the Rushville Assembly of God Church.

She worked at the Mummert Seed House in Astoria for a few years and later worked for the Astoria Community #1 School District as a cook and aide.

Frieda enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening and caring for her children and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Browning Cemetery. Reggie Stambaugh will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, September 10th at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. All CDC and IDPH protocol will be enforced. Memorials may be made to The Elms in Macomb.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed visiting with your mother and loved to hear her play the piano at different church functions. She could make that piano dance! Her love of God and her family was a blessing to all who knew her.
