Sarah M. Groff

April 26th, 1921 – December 6th, 2014

Sarah M. Groff, age 93, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 7:29 am Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria, IL. She was born on April 26, 1921, a daughter of Thomas G. and Josephine "Josie" Bohannon. On August 28, 1940, Sarah married Glade D. Groff in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2006.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Ruth Ann Frey, her brother Bob Bohannon, and one great-granddaughter.

Sarah is survived by her two sons, Tom (and Sandy) Groff of Bartonville, IL and Gary (and Barbara) Groff of Arlington, TX, 3 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife.

Sarah was a member of the Ipava Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed quilting and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She was a loyal and devoted mother and grandmother.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Ipava Christian Church. Pastor Kevin Kessler will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Christian Church. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery.
