Rodney G. Simpson

April 9th, 1950 – October 21st, 2020

Rodney Simpson, 70, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 2:21 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 9, 1950, the son of Haskell and Mildred (Smith) Simpson. Rodney married Ruth Anderson on March 17, 1973 in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his 2 sons, Michael (and Amber) Simpson of Lafayette, IN and Shaun (and Danielle) Simpson of Scribner, NE, and 3 grandchildren, Ethan Gene, Rylan James and Rozalyn Marie Simpson.

He is preceded by his parents and 2 brothers, James and Stanley Simpson.

Rodney retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 28 and a half years of employment.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973

He was a member of the United States American Legion Post 2910 in Bloomington, IL. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service in the Browning Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Astoria Rescue Squad.
