Larella "Lardy" L. Stambaugh

Larella “Lardy” L. Stambaugh, 95, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 3:30 am on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at The Elms in Macomb, IL. She was born on May 26, 1925 in Beardstown, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Bair) Kaffenberger. Lardy married Verle “Buck” Stambaugh Jr. on March 23, 1945 in Lewistown, IL. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1990.
Also preceding her are her 2 sons, Robert and Allen Stambaugh, grandson, Alex Stambaugh, brother, Joey Kaffenberger, and sister, Ellie Ferguson.
Survivors include her son, Bill Stambaugh of Astoria, daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Stambaugh of Elmwood, IL, 3 grandchildren, Adam Stambaugh, Jacob Stambaugh and Tessa Stambaugh.
Lardy worked at the nursing home in Astoria for several years as a custodian.
She was a member of the Bader Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. As a member of Astoria’s Golden Girls, Lardy was always on the go and enjoyed going different places.
A private service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Bader Christian Church.

So, so sorry for your loss. Lardy was a gem. We loved her smile, sense of humor and hospitality. We enjoyed hearing her and the Golden Gals sing together. Lardy was always reaching out and saying hello to everyone she meet. I used to get a kick out of her sitting on the floor or ground sometimes to tie her shoes and made it look so easy to get back up as though she was a youngster. She will be deeply missed.
