Phyllis J. Strode

Phyllis J. Strode, of Macomb, IL, passed away at 2:07 pm on Thrusday, December 10, 2020 at Wesley Village in Macomb, IL. She was born in Ipava, IL, the daughter of Olin and Faire (Wickert) Brown. She married Dayton Strode on December 24, 1947 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in on December 19, 1968.

She is also preceded by her 3 brothers, Dane, Boyd and Wade, and 4 sisters, Margaret Thompson, Mildred Ebbert, Alice Kelleher and Ann Guida.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis worked at NTN Bowers in Macomb for 27 years, retiring in 1994. She also worked at K-Mart in Macomb for 31 years.

She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary #6 and the VFW Auxiliary #1921, both in Macomb. She was also a member of the Christian Faith Center in Macomb.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Vermont Cemetery. Lyren Haney will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Peoria, IL or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.

I remember Phyllis from when she and my Aunt Nene and Uncle Wayne Rogers visited each other a lot. My parents and I went on a lot of picnics and such with her and Aunt Nene and Uncle Wayne. She was such a very nice lady and lots of fun.

My aunt Phyllis was a very favorite aunt of mine. She used to paint my nails, my family and her and uncle Dayton would visit a lot when I were growing up. She and ZDayton visited me when I was working in Washington D.C. They had a big brown dog (Brownie),. I stayed with Aunt Phyllis when my mother were in the hospital. My husband and me always visited them. Had a wonderful time. Aunt Phyllis Was my last relative of my families. We have only us cousins and families left. God bless Aunt Phyl

I am sad to hear of Phyllis' passing. I had the privilege of working with her at Kmart 1982 to 1983. She was a fun lady to work with!! I pray for peace for your family in this time of loss. We need more people like Phyllis in this world!

I am so sorry to hear of Phyllis's passing. She was a very good friend to me when I moved to Macomb. I have missed being able to see her these past months. Thankfully I was able to speak to her on the phone just a few days before her death at which time she seemed to be in good spirits

We are so sorry to hear of Phyllis' death. She was a neighbor to us on S. White Street. We continued to keep in contact with her at Wesley thru phone calls and cards.

I just read of Phyllis's passing, she and Dayton were our neighbors both were great people.She will be greatly missed. RIP
