Mary E. Heflin
August 12th, 1929 – January 5th, 2021
Mary E. Heflin, 91, of Vermont, IL, passed away at 10 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at The Elms in Macomb, IL. She was born on August 12, 1929 in Missouri, the daughter of Clifford and Mabel Sipes. Mary married Clifford N. Heflin on June 6, 1944 in Palmyra, MO. Clifford preceded Mary in death on January 7, 2012.
Also preceding her are her daughter Regina Jeffery, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her son, Norman Heflin of Vermont, IL, daughter, Janet (and Sue Shima) Kelly of Raleigh, NC, 5 grandchildren, Kevin Heflin, Stacy Kelly, Melinda (and Dan) Brown, Susan (and Bill) DeToro and Debbie (and Mike) Sroka, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-granchildren.
Mary was a house wife. She was a member of the Vermont United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, feeding birds and squirrels, and her favorite game at the nursing home, B-I-N-G-O.
Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Reverend Robert Greene will be officiating. A visitation will be held on 1 pm on Saturday, January 9. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Elms or the American Heart Association.
