Bernita L. Arnett

July 23rd, 1925 – January 24th, 2021

Bernita L. Arnett, 95, of Table Grove, IL, passed away at 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL. She was born on July 23, 1925 in Canton, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Laila (DeFord) Ames. Bernita married Max Harold Arnett on June 5, 1946 in Ipava, IL. Max preceded Bernita in death on September 2, 2009.

Also preceding her are her parents and 2 brothers, Ernest Wendell and Donald Ames.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Lyle (and Dorothy) Arnett of Lewistown, IL and Terry (and Diana) Arnett of Table Grove, daughter, Cathy (and Mike) Ulmer of Table Grove, 6 grandchildren, Rhonda (and Tony) Wherley, Darren Arnett, Aimee (and Geoff) Bond, Ryan (and Laura) Arnett, Matt (and Kate) Ulmer, and Mandy (and George) Holman and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was a bookkeeper at Farr Farm Service in Table Grove for several years. She also worked at Speer’s Grocery in Table Grove.

Bernita was a member of the Vermont Christian Church. She loved gardening, cooking, and baking for her family. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.

Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Cody Stinnett will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Memorials will be in the Vermont Christian Church.
