Edward A. Churchill

November 10th, 1940 – March 6th, 2021

Edward “Eddie” A. Churchill, 80, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 4:31 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Canton, IL. He was born on November 10, 1940 in Canton, IL, the son of Arthur and Esther (McCain) Churchill. Edward married Virginia Mae Barnes on December 21, 1957 in Fiatt, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his 2 daughters, Vicky (and David) Dikeman of Beardstown, IL and Becky (and Doug) Chenoweth of Lewistown, IL, son, Darren (and Paula) Churchill of Table Grove, IL, 5 grandchildren, Amanda (and Matt) Klaska, Allen Dikeman, Kurt (and Kaitlin) Chenoweth, Tiffany Churchill and Taylor Churchill, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded by his son, Robert Eugene Churchill, 2 sisters, Eleanor Marshall Mills and Helen Courtney, and 2 brothers, John and Ralph Churchill.

Edward was a lifelong farmer and worked at International Harvester in Canton.

He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. He faithfully attended the Vermont Christian Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a Big 10 4-H leader and district manager for Funks G Hybrid Corn.

He had a love for family, his church family, and friends, but most of all, he had a love for God.

Edward worked hard and played hard, enjoying snowmobiling, water skiing, and snow skiing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed many travels with Virginia in and out of the country. In his younger years, Edward loved playing sports, which included basketball and softball leagues.

His roots were well grounded in the farm, raising grain and running a cow/calf operation in which many days he could be found caring for his livestock.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Vermont Christian Church in Vermont, IL. Pastor Cody Stinnett will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Vermont Christian Church.

Condolences
