Bobby L. "Pappy" Bohanan

June 4th, 1938 – June 9th, 2021

Bobby L. “Pappy” Bohanan, 83, of Macomb, IL, passed away at 4:10 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Prairie City Rehab & Health Care in Prairie City, IL. He was born on June 4, 1938 in Glasford, IL, the son of Marion and Lucille (Sweet) Bohanan. Bobby married Mary Ellen Gorsage in 1968. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2012.

Also preceding her in death are his parents, daughter, Lori Robinson and his sister Beverly Schrodt.

Survivors include his son John (and Tammy) McCamant of Bushnell, IL, daughter, Dorothea Bohanan of Macomb, IL, 7 grandchildren, Kassidy Creech, Johnathan (and Delayne) Ebbert, Joshua Robinson, Justin (and Heather) Robinson, Amanda (and Anthony) Rubinski, Amber (and Alex) Darley, and Trenton (and Maddie) Hiel, 13 great-grandchildren, Mycah Ebbert, Copeland “Peanut” Smith, Jayden Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Sadie Robinson, Macy Robinson, Jaycie Robinson, Aadore Darley, Amayziin Darley, Issac Ordaz, Izzel Ordaz, Nova Lynn Hiel, and Kade Hiel, "adopted" son, Red (and Mary) Rickard of Jewett, TX, brother, Cary Bohanan of Banner, IL and his nephew, Matthew Bohanan.

Bobby was a carpenter. He worked on the Texas Pipeline and several construction jobs in the state of Texas. He would also work on crane computers and got them ready for a job.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and morel mushroom hunter. He loved yellow roses.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Bob Spencer will be officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. A visitation will take place from 12:30 to 1 pm on Saturday before the service. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Memorials may be made to Bobby Bohanan Memorial Fund.
