Carrol E. Mapes
February 19th, 1937 – August 25th, 2021
Carrol E. Mapes, 84, of Kilbourne, IL, passed away at 5:35 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her home. She was born on February 19, 1937 in Kilbourne, the daughter of Orville and Pauline (Daniels) Hamblin. Carrol married Daniel Mapes on January 3, 1958 in Kilbourne. He survives.
Also surviving are her 4 sons, Myron (and Kristin) Mapes of Riverton, IL, Ayron (and Melanie) Maypes of Buckeye, AZ, Ryan (and Susan) Mapes of Lyndon, IL and Bryan (and Terri) Mapes of Havana, IL, daughter, Charlene (and Phillip) Davis of Kilbourne, 12 grandchildren, Casey Mapes, Jacob Mapes, Zachary (and Ashley) Mapes, Trevor Mapes, Samantha (and Allen) Jensen, Kirsten (and Brian) Engelkens, Sarah Mapes, Krysta Mapes, Erica Mapes, Brandon Schooltz, Dorrien Mapes and Trystan Davis, 6 great-grandchildren, Bailey Mapes, Anna and Noah Mapes, Bentley Mapes, Dezmen Shooltz and Naomi Shooltz, and brother, Donald Hamblin of Kilbourne.
She is preceded by her parents.
She was a homemaker who was a baby sitter for several years and a great caregiver to her children.
Carrol was a life long member of the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church in Kilbourne where she played the piano and organ. She was a great pianist and organist who could literally get the "piano dancing". She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church in Kilbourne. Pastor Randy Wilson will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church.
