Doris J. Kost

January 20th, 1928 – January 2nd, 2015

Doris J. Kost, age 86 of Vermont, passed away at 5:46 am Friday, January 2, 2015 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. She was born on January 20, 1928 in Vermont, a daughter of Leonard and Ailene (Aten) Brockley. She married Carroll L. Kost on June 16, 1946 in Vermont. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2012.

Doris was also preceded in death by her son-in-law David Crile.

Surviving are her son, John (and Cecilia) Kost of Vermont, her daughter Dianne Crile of Daytona Beach, FL, five grandchildren; Bradley Mayall, Jennifer (and Hamish) Shaw, Doug (and Michele) Mayall, Melissa (and Brian) France, and Cassandra (and Josh) Nehmelman, 10 great-grandchildren; Steven and Kolton Mayall, Cameron and Evangeline Shaw, DJ and Hannah Mayall, Ethan and Jemma France, and Aslyn and Brooklyn Nehmelman, two great-great-grandchildren Bentlee and Brayson Mayall, two sisters, Donna Farr of Table Grove and Virginia McCormick of Astoria, and her brother David (and Norma) Brockley of Vermont.

Doris was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter C of Vermont, and the Vermont Christian Church where she served as Deaconess and on the Church Board. She enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games.

Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services. Pastor Dave Vandeman will officiate. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery. A Marguerite Service will be held at the gravesite conducted by the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter C of Vermont. Memorials may be given to the Vermont Christian Church or the PEO Foundation, Chapter C, Illinois Fund for the PEO Scholars Awards program..
