Laurie L. Martin

July 11th, 1962 – January 28th, 2022

Laurie L. Martin, 59, of Astoria, IL passed away at 12:22 pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on July 11, 1962 in Canton, IL, the daughter of William and Mary (Wickham) Camp. Laurie married Eric Martin on May 19, 1990 in Astoria. He survives.

Also surviving is her son, Austin Martin of Astoria, 2 brothers, Michael Camp of Lincoln, IL and Andy Camp of Niota, IL, and her sister, Dee (and Pete) Egleton of Astoria.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Laurie retired from the US Postal Service after 26 years. She also worked at Farmers State Bank and Better Banks in Astoria, Havana National Bank in Lewistown, IL and Astoria Gardens in Astoria.

She was a EMT for the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad for 30 years and served on the Astoria Town Board for several years. Laurie enjoyed riding motorcycles and her jeep.

A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Friday February 4, 2022 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Ted Shirley will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, February 4th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad or the Laurie Martin Memorial Fund at Astoria Better Banks.

We loved getting to know Laurie and Eric as neighbors in St. Louis after transplant. Found that Eric and Laurie lived near my parents and stopped and visited.
