Charles Bud Briney

October 12th, 1937 – February 8th, 2022

Charles Bud Briney, 84, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 10:06 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 12, 1937 in Bluff City, IL, the son of Ralph and Frances (Stremmel) Briney. Bud married Betty Lou Parry on October 5, 1958 in Beardstown, IL. Betty preceded Bud in death on April 4, 2006.

Also preceding him are his parents and daughter, Kelly McCombs.

Survivors include his son, Neal (and Angie) Briney of Astoria, 3 grandchildren, Kayla (and Matt Stambaugh) McCombs, Tayler (and Tiffany Harn) Briney, and Trenton (and Dacey Malott) Briney, great-granddaughter, Brinlee Zeisler, 3 step-great-grandchildren, Riley, Chase and Zachariah Ackerman, brother, Ron (and Barbara) Briney of New Braunfels, TX, and his sister, Kay (and Greg) Ripp of Hubertus, WI.

Bud served in the United States National Guard as a Military Policeman. He was a member of the Astoria American Legion Post #25.

Bud was a life long farmer in the Bluff City area.

He was a also a member of the Astoria Lion Club, Elks Lodge, Shriners and was a former president of the Astoria School Board. He enjoyed hunting, collecting arrowheads, telling jokes, and spending time with family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Astoria Cemetery. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Lions Club or the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Uncle Bud was amazing in all he did for Farmers and his Community. He loved his family when we would visit him he always taught us non kid farmers something of Farming...never touch the wires!!! Great amazing Uncle and Brother to our Dad (Ron Briney) ...love you
