Leslie Michael Hollenback

Leslie Michael Hollenback, age 71 of Ipava, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at his home. He was born on March 20, 1951 in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Roy L. and Margaret A. (Thompson) Hollenback. On February 28, 1976, Mike married Emily Bubb in Ipava. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter Kirsten (and fiancé Jacob Duvall) Hollenback of Rushville, Illinois, maternal siblings; Jane (and Kevin) Cowan of Rushville, Bill (and Marcia) Hollenback of Ipava, Cindy (and Steve) Lewis of Flora, Illinois, Blake (and Christy) Hollenback of Adair, Illinois, and Rebecca (and Donnie) Watson of Table Grove, Illinois, paternal siblings; Barbara Garcia of Granada Hills, California, Walter “Sonny” Sams of Georgetown, Indiana, Sandy Wilson of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Donna Murphy of Clarksville, Indiana, Mary Gerrish of Pinckneyville, Illinois, Randy Williams of Golden, Colorado, Roger Sams of Pinckneyville, Illinois, Kevin Sams of Pinckneyville, Illinois, Keith Langston of Ava, Illinois, his uncle Rudolph “Rudy” Thompson of Lake Worth, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal sister Deborah Lindsey and paternal brother William Dyche.
Mike was a US Navy veteran, serving 8 years with a rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class on the USS Nimitz.
He worked for DOT Foods as an over the road truck driver and driver trainer. He was a longtime member of the DOT Foods Charitable Committee.
He was a member of the Ipava Masonic Lodge, the Ipava American Legion Post, the Fulton County Board of Health and the Ipava Christian Church.
Mike was a devoted community and family man with enough love and acceptance for everyone he came in contact with. He was a jack of all trades and an antique car enthusiast.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, Illinois. Pastor Brant Reed will officiate. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 15th from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. and all are welcome. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by the Ipava American Legion Post. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow interment services at the Ipava American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Mike Hollenback Memorial Fund and will be distributed by the family to several different organizations.

Sorry for your loss. I worked with him at Dot. He was a great mentor and driver. I was offered his old truck several years ago and gladly excepted it , because I know Mike took very good care of his truck. He will be missed! The Edmonson family
