Russell Erbaugh

February 25th, 1931 – December 15th, 2022

Russell P. Erbaugh, age 91 of Havana, Illinois, passed away at 8:06 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 25, 1931 in Logansport, Indiana, the son of Daniel and Etta (Genseal) Erbaugh. He was raised by his grandparents, James and Catherine (Genseal) Kitson. Both his parents and grandparents preceded him in death. Russell met Doris Wikoff and they spent 56 years together, marrying on September 19, 1975 in Peoria, Illinois. She survives.

Russell is also survived by two daughters, Debbie Haley of Kingston, Illinois and Kymberly Dykstra of Omaha, Nebraska, Derek (and Amy) Nichols and Rachel Bucher, both of Pekin, Illinois who were like his own children, five grandchildren; Jennifer (and Dave) Daniel of Hastings, Michigan, Katie (and Montiel Johnson) Haley of Kingston, Illinois, T.J. (and Jessica) Haley of Belvidere, Illinois, Brittany (and Jason) Marshall of Omaha, Nebraska and Taylor Dykstra of Florida, twelve great-grandchildren; Marcus, Drake and Elle Johnson, Caleb and Mason Daniel, Reese and Forest Haley, Addye and Emma Marshall, and Hunter, Ivey and Drew Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Erbaugh.

Russell was the Labor Business Agent for Laborers Local 231 of Pekin, Illinois. He was President of the Retiree’s Council.

After retirement, Russell was active in the Schuyler County Coon Hunters. He loved helping young people and teaching them to hunt and fish. He lived to fish and hunt. Russell enjoyed riding mules and hunting off them. He loved his dogs and helping others, especially with their animals.

Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, Russell’s desire was that people “pay it forward”, helping someone in need, especially at this time of year. The most important thing is that people love one another.
