Larry L. Stambaugh, Sr.

December 31st, 1940 – January 25th, 2023

Larry L. Stambaugh, Sr., 82, of Rushville, IL, passed away at 10:16 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria, IL. He was born on December 31, 1940 in Astoria, IL, the son Cleve and Nellie (Derry) Stambaugh. Larry married Brenda Sours on December 23, 1978 in Summum, IL. She survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Kahty (and Ed) Monette of Paragould, AR, 2 sons, Larry (and Tammy) Stambaugh, Jr. of Astoria, and Greg (and Ashley) Stambaugh of West Lafeyette, IN, 8 grandchildren, Adam Scott, Adrien Scott, Austin Scott, Nikki (and David) Stambaugh, Tasha Stambaugh, Natti (and Drew) Prater, Wyatt Stambaugh and Holden Stambaugh, 7 great-grandchildren, Kynlee, Kloe, Kaden, Bentley, Ryder, Greyson and Aliyah.

He is preceded by his infant son, daughter, Deborah Scott, 3 brothers, Richard Cline “Breezy” Stambaugh, Wayne Stambaugh and Eugene Stambaugh, sister, Louise McMullen, and step-brother, Max Stambaugh.

Larry worked at International Havester for 37 years, Stambaugh Construction for 12 years and he farmed.

He was a member of UAW #974. Larry enjoyed drag racing and racing cars, hunting, fishing, going to auctions and flea markets, riding side by sides and motorcycles.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A visitation will take place one prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church in Rushville or the Astoria Lions Club.
