Rodney Jay Showalter
October 4th, 1952 – February 28th, 2015
Rodney Jay Showalter, age 62 of Astoria, IL, formerly of Kilbourne, IL, passed away at 7:01 pm Saturday, February 28, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1952 in Springfield, IL, the son of Charles and Erma (Sathoff) Showalter. Jay married Kelley Watkins on September 6, 1997 in Chillicothe, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his son, Joshua Michael Harvey of Astoria, his daughter, Elsie Abigail (and Colton) Danner of Astoria, grandson Brysen William Danner, and two brothers, Terry (and Vicky) Showalter and Rick (and Karen) Showalter, both of Kilbourne, IL
Jay was prececed in death by his parents, and brother Marvin Showalter.
He served in the US Army Reserves from 1973 to 1987 and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Jay worked for Caterpillar for 35 years, the last 20 as a painter. He retired in October of 2008.
He was a member of the UAW Local 974 and the National Rifle Association.
Cremations rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Jay and I grew up together from babes at New Lebanon Baptist Church through high school. I wish we could have spent more time together in our adult years but we had great fun in our youth. My sympathies to all. Paul Jockisch (JR)
