Theodore R. Deming, Jr.

July 17th, 1936 – February 22nd, 2023

Theodore R. Deming, Jr., 86, of Smithfield, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1936 in Buffalo, NY, the son of Theodore R. and Ruth (McMillan) Deming, Sr. Ted married Mariluan White on September 9, 1984 in Maple Valley, WA. She survives.

He is also survived by his children, Martin Royal Deming of Kent, WA, Michael Frederick Deming of Spokane, WA, Elizabeth (and Ryan) Eaton of Spanway, WA, David James Deming of Olympia, WA and Kenneth Ellis (and Colleen) Waggoner of Slaten, TX, 8 grandchildren, Crystal Diane, Katherine, Rebecca, Alyssa, Rhea, David Josiah, Brandon, and Tyler, brother, Douglas (and Patti) Deming of Salt Lake City, UT, and his sister, Dorothy Manhardt of Hamburg, NY.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a private pilot and an entrepreneur.

Ted proudly served in United States Air Force from 1955 to 1964 and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He then was a member of the Civil Air Patrol with a rank of Major. In this role, Ted taught youth to be adults, responsible, respectful and ready for life.

He was an honored soldier, both in the military and in life. He was continually connected with life and was always on the go.

Ted was an Elder and member of the Berean Christian Church in Ipava. He loved serving the Lord and his church. He was also a member of the Ipava Masonic Lodge.

Services will be held at 11 pm on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Berean Christian Church in Ipava. Pastor Doug Gorman will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service on Monday. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at the cemetery, along with full military rites will be provided by the Ipava American Legion and Scott Air Base Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the choice of the donor’s choice.

We are deeply sorry for your great loss! Ted will be remembered by many as a very good man. I cherish the memories of the good times Terry & I spent at your house. We will be praying for you in the days and weeks ahead!

Ted has been my friend for more than 25 years. I Know that he is home with the Lord.

to his service to his Country, fellow man,
father,husband and grandfather
