Ella Mae Busby

February 20th, 1922 – March 9th, 2015

Ella Mae Busby, age 93, of Springfield, OH, formerly of Astoria, IL, passed away at 11:55 pm on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, OH. She was born on February 20, 1922 in Kerton Township in Fulton County, the daughter of Samuel and Ida (Brann) Shelabarger. Ella Mae married Morris Busby on December 23, 1964 in Vermont, IL. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2006.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon (and Mike) Ratcliff of Browning, IL, Terry (and Tom) Briggs of Philadelphia, IL, Joyce Barns of Champaign, IL and Julie (and Donald) Anderson of Springfield, OH, her son, Leslie Corman of Nacogdoches, TX, four step-daughters, Deborah Sheets of Canton, IL, Marsha (and Lindell) Himmel of Forest City, IL, Nancy Gilson of Decatur, IL and Pamela Shaw of Astoria, IL, her step-son, Michael (and Tina) Busby of Table Grove, IL and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her son, Gary Corman.

Ella Mae was a homemaker. She loved to read, and also loved crosswords and word searches. Ella Mae was also known for her deep love for people and animals.

Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Christian Neck Cemetery in Schuyler County, IL. Memorials may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals.
