Michael L. Busby

May 14th, 1957 – May 6th, 2023

Michael L. Busby, 65, of Table Grove, IL passed away at 7:05 am on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on May 14, 1957 in Rushville, IL, the son of Morris and Ethel (Sipes) Busby. Mike married Tina Pratt on November 17, 1984, in Havana, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his 4 children; Christopher (and Erica) Busby of Six Mile, SC, Amanda Pratt of Canton, IL, Josh Pratt of Table Grove, and Cody (and Cassie) Busby of Table Grove, 6 grandchildren; Madisyn Busby, Nakita Kochevar, Hunter Kochevar, Labella Pierce, Bristol Busby and Boddie Busby, 7 sisters; Marsha (and Lindell) Himmel of Forest City, IL, Nancy Gilson of Canton, Pamela Shaw of Lewistown, IL, Julie Anderson of Springfield, OH, Joyce Barnes of Champaign, IL, Sharon (and Mike) Ratcliff of Browning, IL and Terry (and Tom) Briggs of Philadelphia, IL.

He is preceded by his parents, Morris and Ethel, Morris’s second wife, Ella Mae Busby, who helped raise Mike after Ethel’s death, grandson, Coen Kochevar, sister, Deborah Sheets, and 3 brothers, Edward Busby, Gary Corman and Lesley Corman.

Mike was a mechanic and was always working with his hands. He also worked construction and was a member of the Laborers Union.

Mike enjoyed racing, Jeep and side-by-side rides, working on cars and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a fund for Mike’s grandchildren, in care of the Table Grove State Bank.
