Betty (Wickert) Clemens

September 24th, 1923 – May 7th, 2023

Betty (Wickert) Clemens, 99, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 9:40 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at her home. She was born on September 24, 1923 in Pleasant Township near Ipava, IL, the daughter of Charlie and Mabel (Cass) Wickert. She married Leroy E. Clemens on December 23, 1943. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2000.

Betty was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Donal, Ronal and Devere Wickert.

Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Stambaugh, Christy (and Keith) Lehman, Jean (and Herb, Jr.) Crossman and one son, Alan (and Georgiana) Clemens, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Betty was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the family farm. She also worked for the Astoria Christian Church as a janitor retiring in August of 2016.

She was a member of the Astoria Christian Church.

Services will be held at Shawgo Memorial Home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 3 pm with a visitation taking place 2 hours prior to the service. Pastor Gary Sheets will be officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad.
