Iona M. Wise

October 27th, 1932 – May 28th, 2023

Iona M. Wise, age 90 of Macomb, IL, formerly of Astoria, passed away at 2:30 am on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at The Elms in Macomb. She was born on October 27, 1932 in Rushville, IL, the daughter of George G. and Flossie F. (Ogden) Wise.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Marsha Colletta of Oakland, OR, Ed (and Kathryn) Wise of Worland, WY, Dan (and Robin) Wise of Bolingbrook, IL, Kristen (and Brad) Bettencourt of Arnold, MD and Carrie Wise of Astoria, IL and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Iona was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George H. Wise, Gilbert Wise and Ronald Wise and her special friend Jim Curless.

She was an Astoria High School graduate and a graduate of Quincy Beauty Academy. She was the owner and operator of Iona’s Cut and Curl in Astoria for many years.

Iona was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church and the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed duck hunting with Jim and even had matching shotguns. She also was an official member of the “Golden Girls” of Astoria.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Bob Greene will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Iona’s memory may be made to The Elms in Macomb.

Very behind, but didn’t know she had passed away. She was a good Christian lady and wonderful friend of my mom. Hope their blanket throw made it to a good home.
