Marilyn's parents were Kenneth and Clara (Burgard) Easley of Vermont, IL. Educated originally in a one-room schoolhouse near Ipava, IL, she was a graduate of Western Illinois University. Following her graduation, for a brief period, she was a school teacher in Cuba, IL. Following subsequent periods of employment for schools in Canton and Pekin, she spent many years as office administrator of the State Farm insurance agency of her husband, Richard L. Southwood, to whom she was married for 64 years until his death in February 2020.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Pekin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the services. Neither flowers nor gifts are requested, just the presence of those family and friends conveniently able to attend. However, memorials may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the John C.
